RE: NOTICE OF PROPOSED TRAFFIC CALMING PLAN
Andrew Dillard
Transportation Manager
Town of Danville
510 La Gonda Way
Danville, CA 94526-1740
Dear Mr. Dillard:
This letter is in response to the NOTICE OF PROPOSED TRAFFIC CALMING PLAN
issued to Greenbrook Drive Area Residents dated April 7, 2022.
The NOTICE indicates that the Danville Town Council will be considering approval of a
traffic calming plan consisting of the installation of traffic signs as well as other traffic
measures on Greenbrook Drive and other surrounding streets.
I have reviewed the plans and the proposed locations of these signs and I STRONGLY
OPPOSE the installation of the sign proposed to be installed right in front of my
property at 277 Greenbrook Drive - It appears to be a "bicycle" sign. For the purpose
of full disclosure, I declined to support this plan when I was approached by a resident
who was canvassing the area soliciting support of this plan prior to submittal to the
Town of Danville. To be very specific, I do not disapprove of the effort to apply
reasonable measures in an effort to improve traffic conditions and to provide safety
measures to our neighbors, pedestrians, bikers, etc. who utilize our streets.
What I oppose is the excessive number of signs clustered together in the same block -
I believe there are four signs proposed in a span of six residences in a very limited
space. Whereas, there are no signs proposed to be installed in the south portion on
Greenbrook Drive from Harlan to Brookside Drive. I believe that the signs could be
spread out in an effort to provide a more balanced and aesthetically acceptable
location of these signs and still meet their intended purpose. The primary reasons for
my disapproval of the installation of the traffic sign in front of my house is two -fold:

1. It is extremely difficult for me (a Senior Citizen) to back out of my driveway
which is in a corner lot with three Stops signs already installed at the
intersection on Harlan Drive and Greenbrook Drive. As a result of the heavy
volume of traffic, I have to exercise extreme caution pulling out of my driveway
and any visible obstruction blocking my vision as I back out of my driveway
poses an extreme danger to my safety and the safety of others.
2. I already have a stop sign and an ADA sign directly across the street from my
property which are visible from my front window all day long. Installing an
additional traffic sign is excessive, not aesthetically pleasing and not necessary.
I venture to say that my property value will more than likely be affected even
more.
I am requesting that you include this letter as an expressed concern for the Traffic
Calming Plan meeting scheduled on April 19, 2022 at 5:00 p.m
I would appreciate your attention and consideration to this important matter taking
into consideration my safety and the safety of others.
Sincerely,
Marcia I. Beersdorf
