STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY IMAGE AND SENSE OF PLACE
The Diablo Vista Park sports field lighting project is complete! The project, funded by the Sports
Alliance, went extremely well and the new poles and LED fixtures will add hundreds of hours
of playability for a variety of sports user groups. As part of the project, Town staff aerated and
slit seeded the grass and completed necessary irrigation repairs.
The sports field and dog park moratorium ended on February 25, 2022, and many projects were
completed during the closure. At Hap Magee Ranch Park, 110 cubic yards of bark mulch were
added in the dog park, 12 benches were pressure washed, wooden fence boards were repaired,
the turf in the small dog park was aerated and soil enhancer was applied to the new turf area
in the large dog park. Also at Hap Magee Ranch Park, repairs were made to the brick drinking
fountain, the main sewer line at the Cottage was unclogged, and the hydraulic door closer in the
women’s public restroom was re-attached.
STRENGTHEN SAFETY AND SECURITY

Valley Park, Diablo Vista Park, Hap Magee Ranch Park, Danville South Park and Montair
School. Ball field renovations were completed prior to the start of league play, including
finding base pegs, adding field mix, ripping, replacing a damaged backstop board, and
re-grading all Town-maintained fields at Sycamore Valley Park, Diablo Vista Park, Osage

These items may also reflect how Parks Make Life Better! Parks and Recreation make lives and
communities better now and in the future by providing access to nature, outdoor space to play
and exercise, free-time fun in positive spaces, and socializing and learning in a gathering place.
Monthly synthetic turf inspections were performed and included removal of damaged header
board and the cleaning and grooming of both synthetic fields at Sycamore Valley Park and
Diablo Vista Park. Weekly blowing off, cleaning, and adjusting nets on tennis and pickleball
courts was performed at Osage Station Park, Diablo Vista Park and Monte Vista High School.
FACILITATE COMMUNITY PROBLEM SOLVING
On February 8, the Danville Senior Center hosted the first ever
“Coffee with the Commissioners” with the Senior Advisory
Commission. All 5 Commissioners were available to chat
with residents and enjoy coffee and donuts with the public.
The event took place on the Danville Senior Center patio for
increased visibility and to allow for social distancing.
PROTECT ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES
The annual pruning of 1,417 memorial roses and adding soil for new tree berms at Osage
Station Park was completed. Repairs were completed for the pond at Sycamore Valley Park,
where a new willow tree was also planted.

INCREASE CULTURAL UNITY
Danville once again brings the thrill of Irish
dance to a community center near you! Hear the
flutter of feet bounding to the jigs and reel from
the Emerald Isle. February 3rd marked the start
of a fresh season of Irish dance just in time for St.
Patrick’s Day. Stay tuned to track the progress
of our beginner performers as they learn the
foundation of cultural dance.
FOSTER HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
The Matter of Balance class continues to
be popular at the Danville Senior Center.
Participants learn about removing hazards in the
home, do exercises to strengthen muscles and
improve balance and are taught by a certified
Matter of Balance instructor.
PARKS MAKE LIFE BETTER
In the month of February, Facilities Management has picked up dramatically with both
indoor and outdoor rentals. The picnic rentals typically stop through winter but this year,
the applications have continued to come in throughout February. With indoor rentals, the
number of inquires have increased dramatically. We are giving facility tours almost every
