Wednesday, March 9 @ 6:00 PM (Zoom)
Thursday, March 17 @ 6:00 PM (Zoom)
Saturday, March 26, 10:00 AM – 12:00 noon (in-person,
Veterans Memorial Building)
Monday, March 28 @ 12:00 noon (Zoom), designed for the
business community and co-hosted with the Danville Area
Chamber of Commerce.
What is a Housing Element? It is a state-mandated plan to
meet the housing needs for people of all income groups. This
policy document must be updated every 8 years.
Why is it important to update? A state-compliant Housing
Element Update ensures that Danville complies with state
housing law, is eligible for state grants and funding, addresses
local housing needs, and allows the community to identify the
most appropriate locations of assigned housing targets.
Penalties for non-compliance include court-imposed fines of up
to $600,000/month and potential lawsuits. Consequences
include court-mandated compliance where housing
development can be approved by the court. Further, the court
can suspend the Town's ability to issue building permits.
Why participate? For the 2023-2031 cycle, Danville is
mandated to accommodate (find enough land for) a minimum of
2,241 homes. Your participation will help inform the Town's
decision making process in determining the most appropriate
sites to accommodate the State's housing assignment.
How do I participate? Join us for one of the following
workshops to learn how to use the "Housing Site Suggestion
Map" and recommend the appropriate locations for housing.

The Housing Element is a state-mandated plan that all California cities
and counties must update every 8 years. As a policy document, it must
identify where and how Danville will accommodate the housing needs for
people of all income groups.
You're welcome to suggest any sites. Subsequently,
the Town will determine if a site is available for
development and if it meets criteria defined by the
State Department of Housing and Community
Development (State HCD). Read the guidelines
provided on the Housing Site Suggestion Map
interactive tool located at:
www.DanvilleTownTalks.org/HousingElement
WHAT SITES CAN I SUGGEST?
Danville must identify a list of sites suitable for housing
development as part of the Housing Element update.
For the 2023-2031 cycle, the Town must find enough
land to accommodate a minimum of 2,241 homes
(Note: Danville is responsible for identifying the land
to accommodate these units, not building them).
WHY DO WE NEED HOUSING SITES?
During this phase of the process, contribute
your ideas on the most appropriate locations
for new housing development by using the
Housing Site Suggestion Map. Simply drop a
'pin' on the sites you recommend.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
