CALL TO ORDER The special meeting of the Danville Arts Advisory Board was called to order by Chair Schell at 4:00 p.m. The meeting was conducted by teleconference only. 1.1 Roll Call Administrative Assistant Gail Massagli conducted the roll call for attendance: Present: Amy Schell, Chair Haley Johnson, Vice Chair Jane Joyce, Board Member Charles Neary, Board Member Kim Bowles, Board Member Amelia Liptak, Youth Member 1.2 Announcements Administrative Assistant Gail Massagli provided information regarding the format of the meeting and instructions for public comment. 1.3 Introduce New Commissioner Chair Amy Schell introduced new Youth Member, Amelia Liptak. 2. PUBLIC COMMENTS There were no public comments. 3. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA There were no changes to the order of the agenda. Arts Advisory Board Meeting Summary September 8, 2021 Page 2 2 4. ACTION ITEMS 4.1 Approval of the July 14, 2021 Arts Advisory Board Meeting Summary. MOTION BY VICE CHAIR JOHNSON, SECOND BY BOARD MEMBER JOYCE, TO APPROVE THE MEETING SUMMARY OF THE JULY 14, 2021 ARTS ADVISORY BOARD SPECIAL MEETING. MOTION CARRIED 6–0-0–0 5. REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS 5.1 Permanent Art Updates Recreation Superintendent Jessica Wallner provided a brief overview of the Acorn of the Old Oak permanent art. She presented a power point slide show for the Danville’s Acorn of the Old Oak permanent art with the ideas for possible locations and cost of molds of the acorns. Potential areas for the acorns to be placed are at the Village Theatre and Art Gallery, Library next to the Town Green, Senior Center, Museum of the San Ramon Valley, fountain at the corner of Linda Mesa and Railroad, and the Danville Hotel. Discussion was opened to the Board Members regarding the permanent art updates. 5.1 Town Updates Recreation Superintendent Jessica Wallner updated the Board on current and recent events for the Town of Danville’s Cultural Arts. She announced that on August 31st the Recreations Arts and Community Services Department unveiled the Town’s new mascot, August J. Acorn, nickname, “Auggie the Acorn.” Ms. Wallner asked Board Members to review and choose a date they are available for the upcoming Joint workshop with the Parks, Recreations and Arts Commission. An additional special meeting date will be discussed for voting on the artwork for the new Town Offices located at 500 La Gonda Way, Danville. 5.2 Board Member Reports and Comments Arts Advisory Board Meeting Summary September 8, 2021 Page 3 3 Board Member Neary provided feedback regarding positive reviews from his new neighbors that just moved in and attended Danville’s summer camps. Board Member Bowles welcomed new board member Charles Neary and youth member Amelia Liptak. She mentioned the Arts Advisory Board members information needed attention on the website. She also followed up with Jessica regarding previous youth member, Samantha Snow. Board Member Bowles represented the Arts Advisory Board when attending the Senior Advisory Commission Workshop discussing the Age-Friendly Roadmap and learned a lot. Youth Member Liptak is happy and excited to be part of the Arts Advisory Board for the next two years. Board Member Joyce reported on Danville events she recently attended and how much she enjoyed the events. Vice Chair Johnson welcomed the new board members and reported on how much she enjoyed Art After Dark event. Chair Schell commented on the success of the Art After Dark event and how important the events are with the surrounding art as it is well received. She looks forward to the future with more events around the art installations. 6.
