5. REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS
5.1 Town Updates
Recreation Superintendent Jessica Wallner updated the Board on current and future
events for the Town of Danville’s Cultural Arts. She was delighted to report the
success of the first in person reception in over a year. The Altered & Reimagined
reception took place on June 19 at the Village Theatre Art Gallery.
She explained to the Board that tickets must be purchased for Village Theatre and Art
Gallery events and activities are registration based. Ms. Wallner also mentioned the
department is trying to meet everyone’s comfort level with COVID-19 and have
placed circles in the grass for events such as Music in the Park for social distancing.
She reported outdoor events registrations are full.
Ms. Wallner updated the Board regarding the June Budget.
5.2 Board Member Reports and Comments
Board Member Donovan attended the in person reception, Altered & Reimagined, on
June 19 and was pleased to report it was well presented and was pleased with the
turnout of the event.
Board Member Johnson was happy her term was renewed for the Board. She reported
she noticed Livermore’s large mural which created opportunities for visitors to take
pictures and would like to recommend Danville consider a mural as well.
Board Member Joyce discussed her support for murals and banners around the Town
providing variety with ideas of creating a mural on the side of the Village Theatre for
the Town’s residents to watch the progress.
Chair Bowles was in contact with Samantha Snow, the previous Youth Member for
the Arts Advisory Board, and requested follow up on her receiving her plaque for
service. Chair Bowles communicated with the Art Gallery for recruiting teens for the
Arts to acquire extra volunteer hours for college applications. She is in support of
murals in conjunction with local artists, residents, and the Poet Laureate.
