Facilitate Community Problem Solving

Estate Tax Survival Workshop. Over 35 attendees enjoyed a free presentation in the
Community Hall.
Protect Environmental Resources

the Town Green. Valve repairs were completed at Vista Grande School, Sycamore
Valley Park, and the Town Green, along with a total of 30 irrigation repairs at Osage

Provide Recreational Experiences
The Danville Senior Book Club had the opportunity to meet inside the Senior Center for
the first time in 18 months. The Book Club members enjoyed seeing everyone face-to-
face and discuss their book of the month.
The Town of Danville hosted a Summer Kids’ Night Out program with multiple
sessions throughout the summer. Kids’ Night Out occurred almost weekly to encourage
parents to take an evening out on the town. One session also served as a collaboration
with the Village Theatre Art Gallery so that parents had a sitter if they choose to attend
the Art After Dark event.
Arts and Rec on the Go has adapted to a new summer
4
format encouraging playful parent participation in many different park settings across
Danville. Arts and Rec on the Go has visited 5 sites per two-week session. This program
has modified its appearance to provide a miniature carnival of games not only to our
camp attendees but to the public as well. This program welcomes people of all ages and
is highly convenient for parents to spend some time with their younger children who
aren’t old enough for camp yet, but still want an impromptu recreational experience.
Contract camps are doing well this Summer and are engaging the children in Danville.
Campers are experiencing a variety of different types of classes including science,
dance, arts and crafts, movie making, early childhood education and music. Campers
are enjoying their time gaining unique experience in their specialized camps that help
diversify our recreational offerings.
Support Economic Development
On July 15, the Town of Danville hosted its first Art After Dark event. This was a
ticketed event in which a small $10 fee gave the patrons an evening of live music on
the Town Green under the glow of the larger-than-life mushroom sculpture, where
desserts and refreshments were provided and catered by Mangia Mi restaurant. In
all, 40 tickets were pre-sold and many more guest walked up to buy tickets the
5
evening of the event. Additionally, The Village Theatre Art Gallery was held open
late: from 7:30-9:30 p.m. and the gallery received more than 40 visitors to see the
exhibit, Altered & Reimagined, and to see the summer 2021 Public Art installation:
Shrumen Lumen—which consists of two sculptures, one at the VTAG and one on the
Town Green.
Also, earlier that same evening, one of the head artists at
FoldHaus Art Collective (creators of the Shrumen Lumen) was
interviewed by ABC7 News Channel.
Promote Health & Wellness
In July, youth sports camps were filled to maximum capacity. Youth sports camps were
ran by Skyhawks, Arora Tennis, Kidz Love Soccer, and Triple Threat Basketball
Academy. Toddler and youth basketball classes have also been running every Sunday
at Diablo Vista Park. The youth have been very excited to get back to a somewhat
normal of a summer.
6
Group swim lesson, private swim lessons, low impact fitness, Danville Wave Riders
and Danville Splash continued to run through July. Participants were able to learn life
saving skills in swim lessons as well as the Danville Wave Riders camp. Adult
participants have been extremely excited that the low impact fitness class was brought
back. Danville Splash has also been a very popular camp in the month of July. Danville
Splash was the Town’s recreational swim camp. It provided a chance for the youth to be
able to play games and have fun in the pool.
Increase Cultural Unity
On July 9, San Francisco Sensation Frisco Fred wowed our preschool audience with
jaw dropping magic and juggling. Presented in the park for the summer, families
watched the show from their socially distanced pods.
The last Kidchella of the summer happened on July 21 with Octopretzel on the Town
Green. Starting at 11am, participants went onto social media for a virtual storybook
reading, followed by take-home craft kits that were provided by the library. At
12:00PM, the music played followed by a hour of fun with additional activities and
games provided by the Arts and Rec on the Go program.

On July 24, at Oak Hill Park, Music in the Park returned to bring the community
together. Performer and Artist Britnee Kellogg, brought a celebrity like energy to
the event with classic country tunes everyone knows along with some original
music.
On July 16, the Town of Danville brought a unique experience with a Virtual
Shakespeare Workshop taught by the SF Shakespeare Festival. The artists taught
participants a few acting basics, taking words on a page and expressing it in a
physical form, theatre games and learning about the story of Midsummer Night’s
Dream.
8
It was a busy day on July 16th, with Moonlight Movies returning to the Town Green.
Keeping with the Shakespeare theme we showed the animated classic “The Lion
King” to a crowd of families. The final movie on the Town Green was “Onward”
which happened on July 30th.
Foster Human Development
Arts Camps have begun again this summer in person! It’s been a very fun summer
for Danville kids who want to create art!

kids had a chance to learn about the current art exhibit (Altered & Reimagined, an
exhibit of collage and assemblage art) and make their own masterpieces!
