Danville Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission – Special Meeting
Summary of Actions
June 9, 2021
1. CALL TO ORDER
The special meeting of the Danville Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission was
called to order by Chair Joyce at 5:00 p.m. The meeting was conducted by
Teleconference only.
1.1 Roll Call
Administrative Assistant Gail Massagli conducted the roll call for attendance:
Present: Brittany Beech, Commissioner
Kevin Donovan, Commissioner
Adam Falcon, Commissioner
Jenna Mesic, Commissioner
Jane Joyce, Chair
Absent: Randall Diamond, Vice-Chair, Alesia Strauch, Commissioner, Kyler
Fung, Youth Representative, and Alec Tappin, Alternate
Commissioner
1.2 Announcements
Gail Massagli, Administrative Assistant, provided information regarding the format
of the meeting and instructions for public comment.
2. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA
There were no changes to the order of the agenda.
3. “FOR THE GOOD OF THE TOWN” – To address the Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission
about a subject which is not listed on the agenda, click on the "Raise Your Hand" option in Zoom. Your
name will be announced and you will have up to three (3) minutes to share your comments.

Chair Joyce opened For The Good of the Town to public comment.
There were no public comments.
4. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION/ACTION
4.1 Approval of the Summary of Actions from the May 12, 2021, Parks,
Recreation and Arts Commission Special Meeting
MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FALCON, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER DONOVAN,
TO APPROVE THE SUMMARY OF ACTIONS OF THE MAY 12, 2021, PARKS,
RECREATION AND ARTS COMMISSION SPECIAL MEETING.
MOTION CARRIED 5-0-0-3; VICE CHAIR DIAMOND, COMMISSIONER STRAUCH,
AND COMMISSIONER FUNG ABSENT
4.2 Recommend the Town Council appoint one member to the Arts Advisory
Board for a four-year term ending June 30, 2025.
The Commission reviewed the item and decided to defer this appointment
to its July meeting for further discussion.
MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FALCON, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER DONOVAN
TO PROCEED WITH DEFERMENT OF APPOINTING ONE MEMBER TO THE ARTS
ADVISORY BOARD FOR A FOUR-YEAR TERM ENDING JUNE 30, 2025, FOR
FURTHER DISCUSSION TO THE JULY 14, 2021, MEETING.

AND COMMISSIONER FUNG ABSENT
5. REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS
5.1 Recreation, Arts and Community Services Department Director’s Report
Cultural Arts and Marketing Program Supervisor, Jessica Wallner provided
updates regarding the Danville Town Buildings reopening July 6, 2021, and
resuming regular business hours. She also provided a current update on the
status of the Recreation, Arts and Community Services Department and
highlighted some of the activities that have taken place over the past month.

5.2 Commissioners’ Reports and Comments
Commissioner Falcon extended the available volunteer services of the Boy
Scouts of America to anyone including the Town and the public.
Commissioner Beech reflected on the community enjoying pickleball not
only through the Town of Danville but her own Home Owners Association
has placed one in her neighborhood.
Chair Joyce provided feedback in support of more pickleball courts
becoming available through the Town of Danville in the future. She
interviewed with the Town Council for continued membership to the Parks
Recreation and Arts Commission and expressed her desire to continue on
the commission. Chair Joyce requested a more detailed report regarding the
budget, CIP and timing.
Commissioner Donovan reflected on how delighted he was to see the
community enjoying summer outdoor activities throughout the Town of
Danville. He also requested a more detailed report on the $8.3 Million
Covid relief funds provided to the Town of Danville and where they will
be expended.
6. ADJOURNMENT
The special meeting of the Danville Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission was
adjourned at 5:59 p.m.
