PROCLAMATION
HONORING THE DANVILLE LIBRARY’S
25TH ANNIVERSARY
WHEREAS, public libraries are an accessible and inclusive place that foster a sense of belonging and the
genuine pursuit of the American dream for all; and
WHEREAS, the Danville Library is an institution of growth, opportunity, education and the heart of the
community with over 82 visits per hour, open six days and week and 56 hours per week; and
WHEREAS, the services of the Danville Library extend far beyond the walls of its building to provide free
resources both in-person and online, and through effective outreach services for early readers, homebound
patrons and virtual learners that are unique to the Danville Library; and
WHEREAS, the Danville Library strives to develop programs and collections that are as diverse as the
growing populations they serve and build equity through shared resources, boasting a collection of over
60,000 items with expanding language collections and the strength of knowledgeable staff supporting fo ur
different languages; and
WHEREAS, in times of crisis, the Danville Library plays an invaluable and essential role in supporting
learners of all ages with both in-person and virtual resources, essential technology and free educational
programs bridging communities, culture, and generations; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council does hereby acknowledge the 25th Anniversary of the Danville
Library and encourages all residents, readers, and library patrons to come together both in-person and
virtually to read, learn, discuss, and celebrate the Danville Library’s 25th birthday with many special
activities.
