Hello-
I believe most want to approve the parade but want to make thoughtful decisions in our pandemic
era. I am also sure you already know the extensive research on very low transmissibility outdoors and
that there is plenty of room along the parade route to spread. And lets also assume and hope that
our very good vaccinations rates in the area become very excellent vaccination rates by October.
They are improving daily!
The parade is the epitome of what makes Danville ~ DANVILLE! A high school parade through the
middle of a charming town. Businesses that decorate their store fronts for the parade and participate
in activities of the week. A parade that honors not just the football team but all fall sports -men and
women's sports-and even some clubs. The Homecoming court is a fabulous mix of students shown
love for their individuality, kindness, spirit. The parade honors our Comrades special needs kids, a
pair of beloved teachers, alumni, and even the future Wolfpack. And to top it all off everyone gets
together for lunch after the parade, or shops while they're downtown already. Bringing business to a
truly local economy where many owners are current families or alumni of SRV and MV. And we all
know our businesses need business right now.
Kind of Hallmarky -I know- but it's all true. And probably the best part of it all, is that we share it with
any one who wants to feel the joy. Over the years, friends and family of ours have come from out of
town and state to see why we get so excited for the SRV Homecoming Parade. I used to pull my
kindergartners out of school to watch it and I still head down to watch the parade even though all my
kids have graduated.
So if in any doubt- the Parade is part of our core of not just What Danville is but WHO Danville is!
A Safe and Traditional Parade- IS "do-able". I will be there and will be safely spaced and masked if
needed.
Thank you for your time and consideration-
