This was my intended public comment for both the Planning Commission meeting and the general Town Council meeting and I expect I will be bringing this up again in future meetings to find out the status of this request. Thank you! Hello, my name is David Anderson and I live at 743 El Pintado Rd in Danville. Thanks for the opportunity to speak today. I have been a resident of Danville since 1998 and in my 23 years here, I have not experienced a road in our town with conditions as bad as those of the section of road known as the “El Pintado Loop”. Potholes, cracks, uneven asphalt, and crumbling road edges all contribute to a dangerous environment for the many walkers, bikers and drivers that use the road. The over 250 households that live on this road and the many roads that feed into it are seeking basic structural maintenance and upgrades to improve safety and longevity. 1 The El Pintado Loop has been left out of the ongoing capital improvement plan for decades. Whenever residents bring it up to the town, the Town responds with references to some agreement 30 plus years ago whereby residents of this road supposedly agreed to somehow maintain the road in exchange for “not widening” the street. Yet when asked to produce this agreement, the Town of Danville has been unable to do so. Moreover, no such agreement would seem to have any basis in law or logic. Residents of the El Pintado Loop have always paid the same taxes as those in the rest of the Town and County and have never been given any other consideration in exchange for whatever this unknown agreement may have attempted to do. Danville takes pride in its road conditions and keeps a close eye on its average road condition index. Yet El Pintado Road is in a condition that no Town would find pride in. A number of residents have sent letters recently to the Town council requesting action. We are requesting that El Pintado Road be included in all future Capital Improvement programs and budgets, and that a plan of action for repaving and improving the road be a top priority for the Planning Commision and the Town Council. We are seeking no special treatment, just equal treatment with all other roads in the Town of Danville. Thank you for your time and attention.
