I am writing as I understand that the Town of Danville has decided to covert one tennis court into a
pickle ball court. As a neighbor of the courts, at 882 Orange Blossom Way, we object to this for several
reasons:
1)The courts are full already with people wanting to play tennis.
2)Turning one court into a pickle ball court would take out two courts. The pickle ball flies all over the
place and would be interfering in the tennis game next to it.
3)Pickle ball is a noisy sport and tennis is a quiet one. It would be disruptive.
4)Pickle ball is very loud - the ball on the paddles sounds like nonstop gunshots or an annoying racket.
Even with the tennis balls having a coating on them, we get a bit of noise. Pickle ball would be very loud
and disruptive.
5)Already there are lessons and leagues on the tennis courts. And all four courts are used. This would
take out one (and, therefore, two courts should someone show up) 6)Sycamore park has available
courts for pickle ball. They have an entire flat, paved area that is not in use and would easily be
transformed into a pickle ball court or many pickle ball courts. This is next to the basketball courts.
Manage the whole Danville park system by seeing where you can be least disruptive.
I would like to be invited to speak at this meeting. Please send me the zoom link.
