PARKS, RECREATION AND ARTS COMMISSION
STAFF REPORT
4.2
TO: Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission February 10, 2021
SUBJECT: Review and Approval Eagle Scout Book Box Project
BACKGROUND
The Town of Danville was approached by Eagle Scout candidate Cooper Kennedy, who
has presented a proposal for placement of book boxes at Hap Magee Ranch Park and the
Iron Horse Trail.
DISCUSSION
The book boxes would be intended to serve as a book exchange, with park and trail users
able to read the books on nearby benches or borrow a book and leave another in its place.
The proposed locations are near the picnic area at Hap Magee Ranch Park and at the Iron
Horse Trail head on W. Prospect Avenue. Staff has reviewed the proposal and
acknowledges that the book boxes would be appropriate additions to the two sites and
could provide an amenity not currently offered at Town park facilities.
FISCAL IMPACT
The project would be funded by the Eagle Scout candidate.
RECOMMENDATION
Review and approval of proposed Eagle Scout project.
