Special Meeting Summary
September 9, 2020
1. CALL TO ORDER
The special meeting of the Danville Arts Advisory Board was called to order by Chair
Bowles at 4:00 p.m. The meeting was conducted by teleconference only.
1.1 Roll Call
Administrative Assistant, Kristine Meidberg conducted the roll call for attendance:
Present: Kim Bowles, Chair
Kevin Donovan, Board Member
Haley Johnson, Board Member
Jane Joyce, Board Member
Amy Schell, Board Member
1.2 Announcements
Administrative Assistant, Kristine Meidberg provided information regarding the
format of the meeting and instructions for public comment.
2. PUBLIC COMMENTS
There were no public comments received.
3. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA
There were no changes to the order of the agenda.

4.1 Approval of the February 12, 2020 Arts Advisory Board Meeting Summary.
MOTION BY BOARD MEMBER JOYCE, SECOND BY BOARD MEMBER SCHELL, TO
APPROVE THE MEETING SUMMARY OF THE FEBRUARY 12, 2020 ARTS ADVISORY
BOARD REGULAR MEETING.
Motion Carried 4 – 0 (Board Member Donovan not present due to technical difficulties)
4.2 Selection of the Arts Advisory Board Chair
Board Member Joyce nominated Chair Bowles to remain in the position of Chair for
the 2020/2021 term.
MOTION BY BOARD MEMBER JOYCE TO APPROVE THE NOMINATION OF CHAIR
BOWLES TO REMAIN IN THE POSITION OF CHAIR OF THE ARTS ADVISORY
BOARD FOR THE 2020/2021 TERM.
Motion carried 5 – 0
4.3 Selection of the Arts Advisory Board Vice Chair
Chair Bowels nominated Board Member Schell as Vice Chair for the 2020/2021
term.
MOTION BY CHAIR BOWLES TO APPROVE THE NOMINATION OF
BOARD MEMBER SCHELL TO THE POSITION OF VICE CHAIR OF THE ARTS
ADVISORY BOARD FOR THE 2020/2021 TERM.
Motion carried 5 - 0
4.4 Approval of the Arts Advisory Board meeting dates for 2021.
Cultural Arts and Marketing Program Supervisor, Jessica Wallner presented the
schedule for the 2021 Board meeting dates and times.
MOTION BY BOARD MEMBER DONOVAN, SECOND BY BOARD MEMBER JOYCE,
TO APPROVE THE ARTS ADVISORY BOARD MEETING DATES FOR 2021.

5. REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS
5.1 Town Updates
Cultural Arts and Marketing Program Supervisor, Jessica Wallner gave updates on
the cultural arts programs and the current art gallery juried exhibit.
An update was also given on the Public Art exhibit, Hearts around Hartz. The Town
will be holding an auction October 15 – October 20th. 16 of the 17 hearts will be
auctioned off, one heart will remain with the Town. The proceeds from one of the
hearts will be donated to the American Heart Association.
We are currently looking for members to join the Curatorial Committee and we are
also looking for a Youth Representative to join the Arts Advisory Board.
5.2 Board Member Reports and Comments
Board Member Donovan thanked Jessica and her team on the work they have been
doing.
Board Member Johnson spoke about how many people have enjoyed the hearts.
Board Member Joyce commented on how uplifting the Hearts have been to so many.
Board Member Schell has been coming up with ideas, like the hearts that we can use
in the future.
Chair Bowles reported that children do understand what Public Art is. As a teacher
she sees that her students get the connection of public art and our Heart exhibit. She
also spoke of her concern on how the pandemic has impacted the arts in schools. She
expressed concern over how the pandemic will affect our projects moving
forward and expressed the idea of partnerships with other communities
and commissions.
6. ADJOURNMENT
The special meeting of the Danville Arts Advisory Board was adjourned at 4:55 p.m.
