SUBJECT: Resolution No. 77-2020, awarding a construction contract for the Town
Office Relocation Project, CIP No. B-626
BACKGROUND
The Town’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) includes Project No. B-626, which will
relocate the Danville Town Offices and Police Department to 500 La Gonda Way. The
property located at 500 La Gonda Way includes an office building and an unfinished
building shell (previously designed to be a children’s theater) that are connected by a
central atrium and plaza; and related parking and landscape improvements.
Approximately 18,878 square feet of interior tenant improvements are required to the
unfinished space (former children’s theater) on the east side of the atrium prior to
relocation of the Police Department.
DISCUSSION
Four bids were received and opened on November 5, 2020. The lowest responsive
bidder was DL Falk Construction, Inc. of Hayward, California at $5,924,000. Bid results
are summarized in Attachment B.
The work is scheduled to begin early 2021 and should be completed by January 2022.
PUBLIC CONTACT
Posting of the meeting agenda serves as notice to the general public. A standard Town
Capital Improvement sign will be placed at the project site.
FISCAL IMPACT
The low bid amount is $5,924,000. Due to the unique characteristics of the unfinished
space that was previously designed to be a theater, a 20% contingency of $1,184,800 will
be required, which results in a total construction budget of $7,108,800. Sufficient funds
have been appropriated in the Capital Improvement Program to cover these costs.

RESOLUTION NO. 77-2020
AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE TOWN OFFICE
RELOCATION PROJECT, CIP NO. B-626
WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council has appropriated funding in the Capital
Improvement Program for the Town Office Relocation Project, CIP No. B-626; and
WHEREAS, the plans and specifications for the subject project have been designed by
William Wood Architects, the original designer of the buildings at 500 La Gonda Way;
and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk of this Town did, in open session on the 5th day of
November, 2020, publicly open and read aloud the sealed bids received as required by
law; and
WHEREAS, the lowest responsive bidder is DL Falk Construction, Inc. of Hayward,
California, and the City Engineer has recommended awarding a contract for the project
to said contractor; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town award the construction
contract for the Town Office Relocation Project, CIP No. B-626 to DL Falk Construction,
Inc. of Hayward, California; and, be it further
RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town Manager be and hereby is
authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town, a written contract with DL Falk
Construction, Inc. for $5,924,000 and authorize use of a 20% construction contingency of
$1,184,800 for a total construction budget of $7,108,800 for work in connection
therewith, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to attest same and affix thereto the
official seal of the Town; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that staff shall within five (5) days of the adoption of this resolution,
transmit an Extract of Public Works contract award to the Department of Industrial
Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards, P.O. Box 420603, San Francisco, CA
94142. (Note: Should a finding of any discrepancy regarding this ratio of apprentices to
journeymen be made, the Town shall notify the Division of Apprenticeship Standards
of such findings.)
