Hi Marie,
It was nice to catch you on a sunny day. :)
I would like my issues read during tonight’s Danville Town Council Meeting’s Pubic Comments in Agenda item “4. For the
Good of the Town” about the Proposed Costco Gas Station on Fostoria Way. Please start reading my statement after the
asterisks below. Thank you for your assistance!
Best Regards,
Christine Santiago

Dear Town Council:
As a resident of Danville, I strongly oppose San Ramon and Costco’s plan to build a mega gas station with 32 pumps
manned by only one attendant. I live at Fostoria Terrace, right next to Costco, in front of the Chevron gas
station/carwash.
Thus, I ask for your full support as our Danville City Council by standing up for us at the next City of San Ramon Planning
Commission meeting on November 17, 2020.
The residents of Danville and San Ramon were only mailed a pink half sheet of stock paper that served as the one and
only Notice to a Public Hearing by the City of San Ramon, as well as very little time to gather our thoughts and attend
the City of San Ramon’s Planning Commission Meeting. (Please refer to the attached pink notice.)
I have lung cancer even though I never smoked in my life. I am being monitored by my oncologists after my horridly
painful surgery last year, every three months for a total of five years before I am deemed cancer free. I also have chronic
asthma and sinusitis. I became home bound because I am at high risk of catching COVID-19.
Costco’s gas stations attract everyone because of the low gas prices they offer. Our area will be grossly impacted due to
congestion and car emissions, which is bad for my health, and everyone’s health for that matter.

The impact on us is serious. We will be adversely affected by the planned Costco gas station in terms of the following: (1)
our health; (2) safety; (3) quality of life; (4) small neighborhood atmosphere.
As a matter of full disclosure, I do shop at Costco on Fostoria Way, but I like this store because it does not have a gas
station and it is governed by
Danville.
I live in Fostoria Terrace. Some of my reasons are its proximity to the Iron Horse Trail, Mt. Diablo, and small stores. We
are also blessed with a wind path that makes our neighborhood much cooler than inner Danville. But the prevailing
westerly wind would drive emissions from the idling cars to our residences should Costco’s mega gas station be built.
I also believe in what Danville stands for and I quote from Councilmember Arnerich:
“Small Town Atmosphere Outstanding Quality of Life”
Thank you so much for your public service.
Sincerely,
Christine Santiago, M.S.
