Good evening, councilmembers:
You are aware of the controversy surrounding Costco's plan to build a 32-pump gas station on the San Ramon
side of Fostoria Way, across the street from its Danville store, and not far from Danville residences.
I have been in contact with the council regarding this, and heard back from only one councilmember--Newell
Arnerich. While I appreciated getting even that one lone reply (Where were the rest of you?), the tone of Mr.
Arnerich's message was rather defeatist.
This plan was introduced at the San Ramon Planning Commission on October 20th, and will be brought up
again at its November 17th meeting. I would implore the council to get fired up about this again...for the sake
of the Danville residents who would be impacted by the station in the form of noxious fumes drifting east--
directly to the homes--and by the traffic nightmare that will be created, to name just two.
I would agree that Costco is a big corporation that would be hard to stop. But it's not Costco we're trying to
convince. We're only trying to convince three people--a majority of the San Ramon Planning
Commission. This needs to die there...and can.
Please...stand behind your residents and let the San Ramon Planning Commission hear from you. This mega-
station is bad for this part of San Ramon, and even worse for the people who live nearby.
The residents who would be impacted most by this San Ramon plan live in Danville, and they're looking for
your support.
I would also encourage other Danville residents hearing this message to get involved in the issue.
Thank you.
Jon Bristow
