Dear Mayor & Town Council, RE: Resolution 4474-2020 Appropriating Funds Establishing a Forward Focus COVID-19 Business Grant Program My name is Pat Burgess. I am the Chairman of the Board for the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce. I am in support of the Town appropriating funds for Business Grants. This year has been extraordinarily difficult for our restaurants and merchants. Without them our Town will not have the charm that it offers today. We need to support them. My only concern in reviewing this proposal is the restriction of only providing $5,000 per business. As we move into the winter months, assuming restaurants will still be required to serve outside, the cost of adequate tenting, heating, and lighting will far exceed that cost. My request is that this Grant be modified for the restaurants to at least $10,000 per, requiring each organization to provide proper documentation to support such need. In conclusion, I applaud our Town for its continued efforts to preserve the charm and character of our community.
