ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF REPORT 5.4
TO: Mayor and Town Council October 20, 2020
SUBJECT: Resolution No. 70-2020, approving the Town’s inventory of leased and
owned properties pursuant to Government Code Section 50569
BACKGROUND
The Surplus Lands Act requires that all local government agencies prepare an annual
inventory of all real property owned or leased by the agency. The Act (Government Code
Section 50569) also requires that the agency identify any of those properties which are “in
excess of its foreseeable needs. A description of each parcel found to be so in excess of
needs shall be made a matter of public record.” If any properties are defined as surplus,
that finding triggers a process whereby the agency must offer the property for potential
use for housing or recreation.
DISCUSSION
The attached inventory lists all properties owned by the Town. The Town does not
currently lease any property. None of the listed properties are surplus.
