Please record my opposition to Agenda Item 7.1
My name is Terry Thompson. My wife and our daughters moved to Danville in 1980 and we have lived in the
same home for the past 40 years. About 20 years ago the post office changed our zip code to Alamo, but I still
consider myself a Danville resident.
I strongly oppose Resolution 47-2020 and urge each council member to vote against it. The council should
strive for unity in the town and not divisiveness. The Rainbow Flag represents the LGBTQ movement which is
strictly political. The town should stay miles away from becoming a mouthpiece for political speech. What is
next? Will the town put up a flag for the Democrat Party during the Democrat convention or a “Keep America
Great” flag during the November elections? How about putting up a Mexican Flag during Cinco de Mayo or a
Christian Flag during Easter month?
This is a slippery slope of political correctness! The LGBTQ organization has set a trap for you! Don’t fall into
the trap because you want to be seen as open minded and inclusive. The reverse will be true, you will be seen
as biased and divisive. Do the right thing and vote unanimously to reject resolution 47-2020!
