CALL TO ORDER AND ESTABLISH QUORUM Chair Beech called the regular meeting of the Danville Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Meeting Hall, 201 Front Street, Danville, CA 94526. PRESENT: Brittany Beech, Chair Jane Joyce, Vice Chair Randall Diamond, Commissioner Kevin Donovan, Commissioner Kyler Fung, Commissioner Youth Representative Stewart Proctor, Commissioner Alesia Strauch, Commissioner Alec Tappin, Commissioner 2. CHANGES TO THE ORDER OF THE AGENDA There were no changes to the order of the agenda. 3. "FOR THE GOOD OF THE TOWN" There were no speakers. 4. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION/ACTION 4.1. Approval of the Summary of Actions from the January 15, 2020 Parks, Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission Summary of Actions February 12, 2020 2 Recreation and Arts Commission Regular Meeting. MOTION BY COMMISSIONER DIAMOND, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER JOYCE, TO APPROVE THE SUMMARY OF ACTIONS OF THE JANUARY 15, 2020 PARKS, RECREATION AND ARTS REGULAR MEETING. Motion carried 8 - 0 - 0 – 0 4.2. Approval of the recommendation to appoint one Commission member to the Arts Advisory Board to fulfill the term ending June 30, 2021. MOTION BY COMMISSIONER PROCTOR, SECOND BY COMMISSIONER JOYCE, TO APPROVE THE APPOINTMENT OF COMMISSIONER DONOVAN TO THE ARTS ADVISORY BOARD TO FULFILL THE TERM ENDING JUNE 20, 2021 Motion carried 8 – 0 – 0 – 0 5. REPORTS AND PRESENTATIONS 5.1. Parks, Recreation & Arts Strategic Plan Accomplishment Update Recreation, Arts and Community Services Director, Henry Perezalonso distributed a draft of the Strategic Plan Accomplishments and asked for any feedback on the document. Suggestions were made by the Commissioners. 5.2. Public Art Program Update Recreation, Arts and Community Services Director, Henry Perezalonso updated the Board on the upcoming program, Hearts Around Hartz. A presentation was given on the fifteen conceptual hearts chosen. 5.3. Town Updates Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission Summary of Actions February 12, 2020 3 Recreation, Arts and Community Services Director, Henry Perezalonso reported that Commissioner Rezowalli has resigned from the Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission. The Commission seat will not be filled until the term ends in 2021. Reminders were given to the Commissioners about the upcoming Joint Study Session with the Arts Advisory Board on February 22, 2020 and the Town Council and Town Commission’s Annual Workshop coming up on February 24, 2020. 5.4. Commissioners’ Reports and Comments Commissioner Fung reported that the Danville Youth Councils upcoming projects will be a booth at the Earth Day event and service projects. Commissioner Proctor reported on the Active Transportation Corridor Study being done. Vice Chair Joyce reported her concern that the Danville Teen Centers are under- represented and was brainstorming about a possible open house or other ways to give our Teen Centers more visibility. Commissioner Donovan reported that he went to his first Senior Commission meeting. Chair Beech reported that on Dec 17, 2019 she gave the semi-annual report to Town Council. 5.5. Activity Report Recreation, Arts and Community Services Director, Henry Perezalonso went over the January 2020 Activity Report. 6. ADJOURNMENT The regular meeting of the Danville Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission was adjourned at 8:11 p.m. Next Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission meeting: March 5, 2020.
