HomeMy WebLinkAbout027-2020DocuSign Envelope ID: 9FD8D293-527F-42BD-80E8-D26FDE70474E RESOLUTION NO. 27-2020 AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF TRAFFIC SIGNAL EQUIPMENT FOR BICYCLE FACILITIES IMPROVEMENTS ON DIABLO ROAD, FROM GREEN VALLEY ROAD TO HARTZ AVENUE, AS PART OF TOWN -WIDE BICYCLE FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS, C-621 WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council previously appropriated funding for Town - wide Bicycle Facilities Improvements, CIP No. C-621, in the adopted 2019/20 Capital Improvement Program; and WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council previously approved an award of contract to a consultant firm for civil engineering design services and preparation of improvement plans for bicycle facilities improvements on Diablo Road (west) from Green Valley Road to Hartz Avenue; and WHEREAS, improvement plans for bicycle facilities improvements on Diablo Road were completed; and WHEREAS, installation of bicycle facilities improvements on Diablo Road is scheduled to be completed as part of the 2019/20 Pavement Slurry Seal Project in summer 2020; and WHEREAS, traffic signal equipment enhancements consisting of the installation of two (2) electronic dynamic message traffic signs at the intersection of Diablo Road and Green Valley Road is required to accommodate signing and striping enhancements that will be installed as part of bicycle improvements on Diablo Road; and WHEREAS, the electronic dynamic message traffic sign is an appropriate traffic control device that is utilized to enhance pedestrian and bicyclist safety at signalized intersections; and WHEREAS, the electronic dynamic message traffic sign is an approved traffic control device in the current edition of the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices ("CA MUTCD"); and WHEREAS, the Town, as a participating Public Agency under the Master Intergovernmental Cooperative Purchasing Agreement as promulgated by U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance, solicited pricing for dynamic message traffic signs manufactured and supplied by Traffic and Parking Control Co., Inc. ("TAPCO"), of Brown Deer, Wisconsin; and DocuSign Envelope ID: 9FD8D293-527F-42BD-80E8-D26FDE70474E WHEREAS, TAPCO is under contract with U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance to supply traffic control products to participants; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town Manager be and hereby is authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town, a purchase order with TAPCO of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, in the amount of $8,568.18 for the purchase of two (2) electronic dynamic message traffic signs.
