HomeMy WebLinkAbout020-2020DocuSign Envelope ID: 68323CE2-2B9E-4B3E-8206-0E57F71E432F RESOLUTION NO. 20-2020 AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE CONTRACTS WITH DESIGN FIRMS TO DEVELOP PERMIT -READY GRANNY UNIT PROGRAM BUILDING PLANS WHEREAS, the State of California, Department of Housing and Community Development (State HCD) is authorized to provide up to $123 million under the SB 2 Planning Grants Program from the Building Homes and Jobs Trust Fund for assistance to Counties (as described in Health and Safety Code section 50470 et seq. (Chapter 364, Statutes of 2017 (SB 2)) related to the PGP Program; and WHEREAS, the Town of Danville submitted a project application for the PGP program to develop a Permit -Ready Granny Unit Program (the Program) that encourages the construction of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) by offering property owners a selection of pre -approved ready -to -construct ADU building plans that meet the State unit size qualifications; and WHEREAS, the expenses associated with development of the Program's ADU building plans are eligible for funding reimbursement; and WHEREAS, the Town released a Request for Proposal and Qualifications from qualified firms to design ADU building plans for the Program; and WHEREAS, the Town received and evaluated four design proposals and the project design teams; now, therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council authorize the Town Manager to execute contracts with up to three firms including Francis Garcia of Oakland, CA, William Wood Architects of Danville, CA and Barry & Wynn of Danville, CA to develop ADU building plans for the Program with a total contract amount not to exceed $55,000 and that the Town Manager be authorized to establish and utilize a 20% design contingency in the amount of $66,000 for additional work that may be subsequently approved by contract amendment.
