Captain Isaac Swain donated funds to provide a warm natural place for San Francisco’s children to escape fog and frolic in the sun. • In 1946, the defunct Camp Swain Orphanage was purchased by Harry and Juanita Magee, who renamed it Edgewood Farm. They had two sons, Harry Magee Jr. (Hap) and Jerome Magee (Jerry). • In 1962/63, the construction of Interstate 680 resulted in the loss of the eastern portion of the property. • Hap Magee took possession of the Ranch in the mid-1960s. • Hap maintained a garage known as the “brand building” which held the largest collection of branding irons in the country. • After Hap’s death in 1985, his wife Ruth sold the remaining 17 acres to the Town of Danville and Contra Costa County.
