HomeMy WebLinkAbout082-2018 RESOLUTION NO. 82-2018 AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF RECTANGULAR RAPID FLASHING BEACON (“RRFB”) SYSTEMS FOR THE TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT PROGRAM, CIP C-305 AND TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND STREET LIGHT MAINTENANCE PROGRAM, CIP C-418 WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council has previously approved funding in the Capital Improvement Program for the Traffic Management Program, CIP C-305 and Traffic Signal and Street Light Maintenance Program, CIP C-418; and WHEREAS, Town staff has identified the need for new illuminated crosswalk systems at the following locations to enhance pedestrian safety and circulation: ▪ Hartz Avenue/Linda Mesa Intersection ▪ Railroad Avenue/School Street Intersection; and WHEREAS, Town staff has identified the need to replace existing illuminated crosswalk systems at the following locations as the systems have reached the end of their service life: ▪ Hartz Avenue/Prospect Avenue Intersection ▪ Railroad Avenue at Clock Tower Municipal Parking Lot ▪ Front Street at Danville Library/Community Center ▪ Rassani Drive ▪ Parkhaven Drive at Lakefield Court; and WHEREAS, the Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (“RRFB”) system is an appropriate traffic control device that is utilized to enhance pedestrian safety and circulation on roadways at uncontrolled intersections and mid-block locations; and WHEREAS, the RRFB system is an approved traffic control device in the current edition of the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (“CA MUTCD”); and WHEREAS, the Town, as a participating Public Agency under the Master Intergovernmental Cooperative Purchasing Agreement as promulgated by U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance, solicited pricing for RRFB systems manufactured and supplied by Traffic and Parking Control Co., Inc. (“TAPCO”), of Brown Deer, Wisconsin; and WHEREAS, TAPCO is under contract with U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Alliance to supply traffic control products to participants; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town Manager be and hereby is authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town, a purchase order with TAPCO of Brown Deer, Wisconsin, in the amount of $46,891.29 for the purchase of RRFB systems for seven identified locations.
