AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF $80,000 IN PREVIOUSLY
APPROPRIATED ITMP FUNDS TO PURCHASE NETWORK HARDWARE
REPLACEMENT DATA SWITCHES IN SIX GEOGRAPHICAL SITES AND
AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE RELATED AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, in July 2010, the Danville Town Council adopted a Five -Year Information
Technology Master Plan (ITMP) focused on implementing "Government 2.0" principles
aimed at increasing transparency and enhanced use of technology to deliver government
information and services around the clock; and
WHEREAS, these expectations necessitate expanded and improved use of web -based
and cloud -based technology resources; and
WHEREAS expanded and improved use of web -based and cloud -based technology
require the implementation of several major ITMP initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the Town is in the process of implementing these initiatives including
network upgrades, telephony upgrades, web- and cloud -based system upgrades; and
WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council appropriated a total of $185,000 in previously
designated ITMP funds; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of replacement network hardware data switches in six
geographical sites: Danville Community Center, Village Theatre & Art Gallery, Town
Meeting Hall, Veterans Memorial Building, Maintenance Service Center, and Oak Hill
Park Community Center, to pre -position for increased bandwidth is required to complete
the network upgrades, telephony upgrades, and web- and cloud -based system updates;
now therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby authorizes the expenditure of
$80,000 in previously appropriated ITMP funds; which includes replacement network
hardware data switches; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council authorizes the Town Manager to execute
the agreement required to coincide with the authorized amount.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on June 6, 2018 by the
following vote:
