AUTHORIZING STREET CLOSURES FOR THE
LIGHTING OF THE OLD OAK TREE ON NOVEMBER 23, 2018
WHEREAS, the Lighting of the Old Oak Tree is an annual event sponsored by the
Danville Area Chamber of Commerce (Chamber); and
WHEREAS, this event is supported and enjoyed by Danville residents and brings
visitors to the Town; and
WHEREAS, the event shall be designed to promote exposure to downtown businesses
within the event limits, and shall include equal distribution of local holiday market
booths and event activities along Hartz and Prospect Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the Chamber is requesting street closures (Exhibit 1) in the Downtown in
order to ensure the safety of the public; and
WHEREAS, the event organizer may only use non -permanent marking material on the
street surface to temporarily identify event logistics, and the event organizer shall be
responsible for the expense of removing all markings and restoring the area to its
preexisting condition within 24 hours after the event concludes; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby authorizes the following streets be
closed Friday, November 23, 2018, during the hours identified below:
Between 1:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Eastbound number one lane of Diablo Road between Front Street and
the Danville Oak Tree for stage installation; and
Between 4:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
1. Diablo Road approximately 100 feet east of the Danville Oak Tree to
Hartz Avenue;
2. West El Pintado between Diablo Road and the south parking lot
entrance for Community Presbyterian Church;
3. Front Street between Diablo Road and the parking lot entrance of
the Front Street Municipal Parking Lot;
4. Prospect Avenue between the Clock Tower Municipal Parking Lot
entrance and Front Street;
5. Hartz Avenue between Linda Mesa Avenue and School Street;
6. Northbound Hartz Avenue from School Street to Hartz Way; and

and trash and recycle bins.
