AUTHORIZING STREET CLOSURES FOR THE JULY 4TH PARADE
WHEREAS, the July 4th Parade is an annual event sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of the
San Ramon Valley (Kiwanis Club) and will begin at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 4, 2018;
and
WHEREAS, this event has been supported and enjoyed by the residents of Danville for
more than 58 years; and
WHEREAS, the Kiwanis Club is requesting street closures (Exhibit 1) in order to ensure
the safety of the public; and
WHEREAS, the event organizer may only use non -permanent marking material on the
street surface to temporarily identify event logistics, and the event organizer shall be
responsible for the expense of removing all markings and restoring the area to its
preexisting condition within 24 hours after the event concludes; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council authorizes the following street closures
and/or restrictions for the July 4th Parade between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.,
Wednesday, July 4, 2018:
1. Danville Boulevard between El Cerro Boulevard and Railroad Avenue;
2. Railroad Avenue between Hartz Avenue and Love Lane;
3. Love Lane between Railroad Avenue and Verona Avenue;
4. La Gonda Way between El Cerro Boulevard and Danville Boulevard
(open to local resident traffic only);
5. Hartz Avenue between Railroad Avenue and Hartz Way;
6. San Ramon Valley Boulevard between Hartz Way and Sycamore Valley
Road;
7. Westbound Sycamore Valley Road and Remington Loop between San Ramon
Valley Boulevard and Sheri Lane (open to local resident traffic only);
8. "No parking" signs will be posted on the north side of Remington Loop between
Sycamore Valley Road West and Sheri Lane;
9. "No parking" signs will be posted on the west side of San Ramon Valley
Boulevard between Podva Road North and Podva Road South; and
10. Three parking spaces in the southwest corner of the Village Theatre
parking lot for barricade trailer, trash, and recycle needs.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on February 6, 2018 by
the following vote:
AYES: Arnerich, Blackwell, Morgan, Stepper, Storer
NOES: None
ABSTAINED: None
ABSENT: None
