AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR TRIM BAND REPAIR FOR
THE VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING CAPITAL MAINTENANCE PROJECT,
CIP NO. B-582
WHEREAS, the Veterans Memorial Building of the San Ramon Valley has been a
central gathering spot for Veterans, seniors, and the community; and
WHEREAS, the historic wing of the building hosts meetings and events for Veterans
service organizations and the public, features a historic collection of military
memorabilia, includes offices for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and County
Veterans Service Office; and
WHEREAS, the building, expanded in 2012 as part of a Town -led renovation effort,
includes a Senior Center wing and large community hall; and
WHEREAS, the renovation effort in 2012 did not include replacement of the 90 -year old
trim band on the historic portion of the Veterans Memorial Building; and
WHEREAS, the trim band repair includes removal of the existing band using best
practices for removal of lead-based paint, installation of the new band, minor stucco
repair, and painting; and
WHEREAS, as part of the 2016/17 Capital Improvement Program, the Town Council
appropriated funding for capital maintenance of the Veterans Memorial Building (CIP
No. B-582) and Town staff released a call for bids for trim band repair services; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk of this Town did, in open session on the 6th day of June
2017, publicly open and read aloud the sealed bids received as required by law; and
WHEREAS, the lowest responsive bidder is Greentech industry, inc. of Concord, Calif.,
at $38,285, and the City Engineer has recommended awarding a construction contract
for the project to said contractor; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town award the construction
contract for the Trim Band Repair for the Veterans Memorial Building Capital
Maintenance Project, CIP No. B-582 to Greentech Industry, Inc., of Concord, Calif.; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town Manager be and hereby is
authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town, a written contract with Greentech
Industry, Inc. of Concord, Calif., for $38,285, and authorize use of a 15% contingency of
$5,743, for a total construction budget of $44,028 for work in connection therewith, and
the City Clerk is hereby directed to attest same and affix thereto the official seal of the
Town; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the Town shall within five (5) days of the adoption of this resolution,
transmit an Extract of Public Works contract award to the Department of Industrial
Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards, P.O. Box 603, San Francisco, CA 94101.
(Note: Should a finding of any discrepancy regarding this ratio of apprentices to
journeymen be made, the Town shall notify the Division of Apprenticeship Standards
of such findings.)
