APPROPRIATING $30,000 FROM FY 2016/17 BUILDING/PLANNING SPECIAL
FUND FOR PROVISION OF CONSULTANT SERVICES AND AUTHORIZING
THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH MIG, INC. TO
UPDATE THE DOWNTOWN BUSINESS DISTRICT (DBD) ORDINANCE
RELATED TO THE DOWNTOWN CORE AREA
WHEREAS, an update of the Downtown Business District (DBD) Ordinance is an
implementation measure of the 2030 General Plan, 2016-2021 Comprehensive Economic
Development Plan (CEDP) and part of an ongoing multi -phased update of the Land
Use and Development portion of the Town's Municipal Code; and
WHEREAS, the update of the DBD Ordinance is comprised of two efforts: (1)
refinements to the land use definitions and land use requirements within the
Downtown Core; followed by (2) an economic analysis to identify potential
development scenarios that would likely stimulate private redevelopment of the "North
Hartz" Avenue area; and
WHEREAS, the Town solicited and reviewed proposals from qualified consultants to
assist in this two-part DBD Ordinance update and identified MIG, Inc. to be the most
qualified firm for the first effort related to the Downtown Core; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby appropriates $30,000 from the FY
2016/17 Building/ Planning Special Revenue Fund for provision of consulting services
and the Town Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with MIG, Inc. to
update the DBD Ordinance related to the Downtown Core area for an amount not to
exceed $45,000.
