HomeMy WebLinkAbout087-2016RESOLUTION NO. 87- 2016 APPROPRIATING FUNDS AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF REAL PROPERTY AT 279 FRONT STREET WHEREAS, the Town of Danville, consistent with the 2030 General Plan, has determined that it is necessary to provide additional public parking in Downtown Danville; and WHEREAS, the Town has entered into an agreement to purchase real property, located at 279 Front Street, for the purpose of constructing public parking; and WHEREAS, acquisition of the property, which is located within the Downtown Business District, is consistent with the goals of the 2030 General Plan, and the Downtown Business District recommendations made by the Downtown Parking Task Force in 2000; and WHEREAS, the recently completed Downtown Parking Utilization Assessment approved by the Town Council in July, 2016, highlighted the need for the Town to continue efforts to evaluate the parking supply and demand within the Old Town area of the downtown; now, therefore be it RESOLVED that the Danville Town Council hereby appropriates $5,850,000 from the Capital Improvement Program - General Purpose Revenue Fund for the purchase of real property located at 279 Front Street, and for necessary inspection, escrow and closing costs; and be it further RESOLVED, that the Town Manager is hereby authorized to take all necessary and appropriate steps to complete the property purchase.
