HomeMy WebLinkAbout064-2016RESOLUTION NO. 64-2016 AMENDING THE EXISTING CONTRACT FOR CUSTODIAL MAINTENANCE SERVICES FOR TOWN -OWNED BUILDINGS WHEREAS, in July 2012, the Danville Town Council awarded a contract for custodial services for all Town -owned and managed facilities to Universal Building Services; and WHEREAS, the contract, which is now entering its fifth and final year, provides for an annual increase in price only by the amount of any increase in the Consumer Price Index; and WHEREAS, since the award of contract in 2012, the State of California has increased the minimum wage from $8 to $10, with another increase to $11 to take effect on January 1, 2017; and WHEREAS, this 37% increase in labor costs far exceeds the Consumer Price Index adjustment provided for in the contract and was not foreseen by either party to the contract; and WHEREAS, the Town and Universal Building Services have mutually agreed upon an increase of $13,509 to the existing contract for the final year of the contract to address the unforeseen increases in the State of California minimum wage and to allow the parties to complete the final year of the contract; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby authorizes the Town Manager to execute, on behalf of the Town, an amended contract with Universal Building Services for the remaining year of the existing contract, for an annual increase of $13,509 to the existing contract amount of $76,248 for a total of $89,757, in the form as lodged with the City Clerk.
