HomeMy WebLinkAbout084-2015RESOLUTION NO. 84-2015 APPROPRIATING $60,000 IN FY 2015/16 DESIGNATED TECHNOLOGY UPGRADES FUNDING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT WITH CLANCY PRIEST TO PROVIDE TECHNOLOGY CONSULTING SERVICES WHEREAS, the Town of Danville recognizes technological advances have cultivated new consumer expectations for around-the-clock access to products and services; and WHEREAS, these expectations include those services provided by the public sector, resulting in a greater demand for service delivery approaches that focus on increased and convenient access to local government; and WHEREAS, at its 2010 Annual Planning and Goal Setting Workshop, the Town Council concurred with the need to implement 'Government 2.0' principles, which encompass the enhanced use of technology to bring government information and services to Danville residents; and WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council accepted the Information Technology Master Plan (ITMP) and recommendations to implement'Government 2.0' principles; and WHEREAS, the Town is in the process of implementing a new enterprise -wide document management system, a major initiative identified in the ITMP; and WHEREAS, the Town is in in the process of implementing other non -major ITMP initiatives; and WHEREAS, it will be necessary to secure consultant assistance to ensure timely implementation of ITMP initiatives in light of upcoming IT staffing constraints; and WHEREAS, Clancy Priest, an independent consultant and retired Chief Information Officer who has public and private sector experience, is available and qualified for the consulting task; now, therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby appropriates $60,000 in FY 2015/16 designated Technology Upgrades funding to retain technology consulting services to complete the document management system; and be it further RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby authorizes the Town Manager to amend an existing contract with Clancy Priest for, an amount not to exceed $100,000, to implement the new document management system and provide technology consulting services for other ITMP initiatives.
