HomeMy WebLinkAbout080-2014RESOLUTION NO. 80-2014 AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE HARTZ AVENUE BEAUTIFICATION, PROJECT, CIP NOS. C -319 AND C -391 (COMBINED) WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council has previously appropriated funding for the Hartz Avenue Beautification Project, CIP Nos. C -319 and C -391, in the adopted Capital Improvement Program; and WHEREAS, additional funding must be appropriated in order to fully fund the project; and WHEREAS, the plans and specifications for the proposed work have been reviewed and approved by the City Engineer; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk of this Town did, in open session on the 7th day of October, 2014, publicly open and read aloud the sealed bids received as required by law; and WHEREAS, the lowest responsive bidder is Ghilotti Construction Company of Santa Rosa, California, at $1,678,748.50 and the City Engineer has recommended awarding a construction contract for the project to said contractor; and WHEREAS, the project has been found to be Categorically Exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) according to Guidelines Section 15301 (Class 1); now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town award the construction contract for the Hartz Avenue Beautification Project, CIP Nos. C -319 and C -391 (COMBINED) to Ghilotti Construction Company of Santa Rosa, California; and, be it further RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that $450,000 in General Purpose Revenue be appropriated in fiscal year 2014/15 for Project C -319 to fund construction of the project with the understanding that EBMUD will make a funding contribution because of pavement damage from their water main replacement work on Diablo Road; and, be it further RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town Manager be and hereby is authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town, a written contract with Ghilotti Construction Company of Santa Rosa, California for $1,678,748.50 and authorize use of a 10% contingency amount of $167,874.85 for a total construction budget of $1,846,623.35 for work in connection therewith, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to attest same and affix thereto the official seal of the Town; and, be it further RESOLVED, that the Town shall within five (5) days of the adoption of this resolution, transmit an Extract of Public Works contract award to the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards, P.O. Box 603, San Francisco, CA 94101. (Note: Should a finding of any discrepancy regarding this ratio of apprentices to journeymen be made, the Town shall notify the Division of Apprenticeship Standards of such findings.)
