AUTHORIZING STREET CLOSURES FOR THE
DANVILLE FALL CRAFTS FESTIVAL ON OCTOBER 25 AND 26, 2014
WHEREAS, Danville Fall Crafts Festival is an event sponsored by the Danville Area
Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, this event is supported and enjoyed by the residents of Danville and brings
visitors to the downtown; and
WHEREAS, the event will host approximately 250 vendor booths, with a local vendor
occupancy rate of 15-20%; and
WHEREAS, the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce is requesting street closures in
downtown for the Danville Fall Crafts Festival; and
WHEREAS, in order to ensure the safety of the participants, it is necessary to close
streets for the event (Exhibit 1); and
WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce has requested an exemption from Danville
Ordinance No. 96 -10 in order to allow the public consumption of alcohol within the
authorized street closure limits; and
WHEREAS, this event is a daytime family event with no history of alcohol - related
incidents; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Danville Town Council that the following streets will be closed
from 2:00 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014, to 11:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2014, for
the purpose of conducting the Danville Fall Crafts Festival:
1. Hartz Avenue between Diablo Road and Hartz Way;
2. Prospect Avenue between the Clock Tower Municipal Parking Lot
entrance and Front Street;
3. Church Street between Railroad Avenue and the entrance of the
Village Theatre Municipal Parking Lot; and
4. School Street between Hartz Avenue and Railroad Avenue, by the
following vote:
AYES: Storer, Arnerich, Doyle, Morgan, Stepper
NOES: None
ABSTAINED: None
ABSENT: None
RESOLVED that the Danville Town Council hereby authorizes the consumption of
alcohol in accordance with the provisions of Ordinance No. 96 -10, during the hours of
11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and within the authorized street closure limits, including the
following conditions required of the event organizers:
1. Include wristbands for identification;
2. Include identification checkpoints;
3. Provide training to event personnel for the sale of alcohol; and
4. Work with the Danville Police Department to establish appropriate protocols to
maintain compliance with Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) regulations, by the
following vote:
AYES: Storer, Arnerich, Morgan
NOES: Doyle, Stepper
ABSTAINED: None
ABSENT: None
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on February 4, 2014.
