HomeMy WebLinkAbout041-2013RESOLUTION NO. 41-2013 AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE AMERICAN RED CROSS TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY SHELTERS FOR DISPLACED MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY WHEREAS, the Bay Area is subject to various earthquake - related hazards such as ground shaking, liquefaction, land sliding, and fault surface rupture; and WHEREAS, the Bay Area is subject to various weather - related hazards including wildfires, floods, and landslides; and WHEREAS, the Town of Danville acknowledges that disasters do not recognize city, county, or special district boundaries; and WHEREAS, the Town of Danville seeks to plan for the potential evacuation of citizens affected by a disaster; and WHEREAS, the Town of Danville is committed to working collaboratively with the American Red Cross to identify and operate emergency shelters in our community; and WHEREAS, the American Red Cross requires all cities, counties, and special districts to enter into a Statement of Understanding regarding the operation of Emergency shelters; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED that the Town Council authorizes the Town Manager to execute the Statement of Understanding with the American Red Cross to provide emergency shelters for displaced members of our community; and, be it further RESOLVED that the Town of Danville commits to continuing to initiate further actions to properly plan and care for the citizens of community.
