HomeMy WebLinkAbout035-2013RESOLUTION NO. 35-2013 AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND APPROPRIATING GRANT FUNDS FOR THE TOWN -WIDE WAYFINDING AND DIRECTIONAL SIGNAGE PROJECT, CONTRACT NO. A -266 WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council approved a call for bids for the Town -wide Wayfinding and Directional Signage Project on February 19, 2013 in Resolution No. 15 -2013; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk of this Town did, in open session on the 16th day of April 2013, publicly open and read aloud the sealed bids received as required by law; and WHEREAS, the lowest responsible bidder is A Good Sign and Graphics Co. of Santa Ana, CA, and the City Engineer has recommended awarding a construction contract for the project to said contractor; and WHEREAS, $178,800 in funding for construction of the project has been obtained from the Contra Costa Transportation Authority using the Transportation for Livable Communities grant program (CC -TLC); and WHEREAS, the funding must be appropriated into the adopted Capital Improvement Program to fund construction of the project; and WHEREAS, this project has been found to be Categorically Exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) according to Guidelines Section 15311 (Class 11); now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town award the construction contract for the Town -wide Wayfinding and Directional Signage Project to A Good Sign and Graphics Co. of Santa Ana, CA; and, be it further RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council that $178,800 in CC -TLC funds be appropriated in Project A -266 to fund construction; and, be it further RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town Manager be and hereby is authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town, a written contract with A Good Sign and Graphics Co. of Santa Ana, CA, for $152,750 and authorize use of a 15% contingency of $22,913 for a total construction budget of $175,663 for work in connection therewith, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to attest same and affix thereto the official seal of the Town; and, be it further RESOLVED, that staff shall within five (5) days of the adoption of this resolution, transmit an Extract of Public Works contract award to the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards, P.O. Box 603, San Francisco, CA 94101. (Note: Should a finding of any discrepancy regarding this ratio of apprentices to journeymen be made, the Town shall notify the Division of Apprenticeship Standards of such findings.)
