HomeMy WebLinkAbout093-2012RESOLUTION NO. 93-2012 AUTHORIZING THE INSTALLATION OF A PASSENGER LOADING ZONE ON EAST PROSPECT AVENUE DESIGNATED FOR PATRON USE OF THE VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING AND SENIOR CENTER WHEREAS, the street sections listed below are maintained by the Town of Danville; and WHEREAS, traffic and engineering studies conducted by the Town of Danville establish that a passenger loading zone is needed on the south side of East Prospect Avenue to specifically serve patrons of the Veterans Memorial Building and Senior Center and to enhance access, traffic safety, and improve loading and unloading operations; and, WHEREAS, the Heritage Resource Commission, via Resolution No. 2009 -01, directed that a passenger loading zone be designated on East Prospect Avenue as a Condition of Approval for the Veterans Memorial Building Project; and, WHEREAS, use of the passenger loading zone is designated for patrons of the Veterans Memorial Building and Senior Center only; and, WHEREAS, passenger loading and unloading activity within the zone shall be permitted for a maximum time limit of 5 minutes per vehicle; and, WHEREAS, the passenger loading zone, as declared by this resolution, will occupy approximately four on- street parking spaces on East Prospect Avenue; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Danville Town Council that pursuant to Section 21458 of the California Vehicle Code and Section 8 -1.4 of the Town of Danville Municipal Code, a white curb section and passenger loading zone signs shall be erected on the south side of East Prospect Avenue, directly adjacent to the Veterans Memorial Building.
