APPROVING A COMMUNITY GARDEN AT HAP MAGEE RANCH PARK TO
BE OPERATED BY THE BOUNTY GARDEN FOUNDATION
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville and Contra Costa County jointly own and operate
Hap Magee Ranch Park for the benefit of the Danville and Alamo communities, with
the Town being responsible for maintaining and managing the Park; and
WHEREAS, the Joint Planning and Operation Committee for Hap Magee Ranch Park,
with concurrence by the Alamo Municipal Advisory Council and the Danville Parks
and Leisure Services Commission, recommended that The Bounty Garden Foundation
be permitted to use a designated portion of the Park as a community garden; and
WHEREAS, the Bounty Garden program is designed to provide opportunities for
community education and volunteer participation; and
WHEREAS, the organic produce will be donated to local Food Banks rather than for the
benefit of individual program participants; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby approves in concept a community
at Hap Magee Ranch Park to be operated by the Bounty Garden Foundation and directs
Town staff to negotiate a license agreement with the Bounty Garden Foundation, which
agreement shall be returned for future approval by the Town Council.
