HomeMy WebLinkAbout088-2011RESOLUTION NO. 88-2011 AWARDING CONTRACTS FOR PURCHASE OF FURNISHINGS FOR THE VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING, CIP B -510 (FORMERLY A -510) WHEREAS, on May 17, 2011, the Town Council adopted Resolution No. 45 -2011 approving a call for bids for the Veterans Memorial Building furnishings, CIP B -510 (formerly A -510); and WHEREAS, the Veterans Memorial Building Development Committee, a 501(c)(3) non- profit, obtained Economic Development Initiative (EDI) Grant Number B- 10 -SP -CA -0382 from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to fund the purchase of furnishings, fixtures, and equipment for the Veterans Memorial Building; and WHEREAS, the Committee entered into a Sub -Grant Agreement Regarding Use of HUD Grant Funding for the Veterans Memorial Building with the Town on April 19, 2011, pursuant to Town Council Resolution 37 -2011 that allows the Town to expend the grant funds; and WHEREAS, the funds must be expended in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, specifically 24 CFR 85.36; and WHEREAS, 24 CFR 85.36(b)(5) encourages subgrantees to enter into State and local intergovernmental agreements for procurement or use of common goods and services; and WHEREAS, the Town registered with National Intergovernmental Purchasing Alliance Company (National IPA) and The Cooperative Purchasing Network (TCPN), two national intergovernmental purchasing cooperatives, which previously solicited competitive pricing for Kimball Office and Izzy+ furnishings, respectively, needed by the Town; and WHEREAS, the building architect, Architectural Group, Inc. subcontracted with Resource and Design, Inc., who, working on behalf of the Town, obtained pricing from National IPA and TCPN for furnishings with said pricing shown on two proposals dated September 28, 2011 and September 21, 2011, respectively; and WHEREAS, Resource and Design, Inc., is an authorized dealer for Kimball Office and Izzy +; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council that the Town Manager be authorized and directed to award contracts to Resource and Design, Inc., in the total amount of $149,515.56 for purchase of needed furnishings for the Veterans Memorial Building, CIP B -510 (formerly A -510); and, be it further RESOLVED, that the Town, as subgrantee to the Veterans Memorial Building Development Committee, seek reimbursement for all costs associated with the furnishings purchase from HUD according to EDI Grant No.B- 10 -SP -CA -0382.
