AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE SYCAMORE
VALLEY ROAD AND I -680 SOUTHBOUND ON -RAMP IMPROVEMENTS,
CONTRACT NO. C -487
WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council approved the call for bids for the Sycamore Valley
Road and I -680 southbound on -ramp improvements, Contract No. C -487; and
WHEREAS, this is a Capital Improvement Project with funds being appropriated by the
CIP Measure C/ J Return to Source and Commercial TIP; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk of this Town did, in open session on the 19th day of October,
2010, publicly open and read aloud the sealed bids received as required by law; and
WHEREAS, adequate funds are available to award the contract to the lowest bidder; and
WHEREAS, the low bidder is Ghilotti Brothers of San Rafael and the City Engineer has
recommended awarding a contract for the project to said firm; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council that the Town award the construction contract
for the Sycamore Valley Road and I -680 southbound on -ramp improvements, Contract No.
C -487, to Ghilotti Brothers of San Rafael; and, be it further
RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town Manager be and hereby is
authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town, a written contract with Ghilotti Brothers for
$268,640 plus 9 20% construction contingency of $53,728 for a total of $322,368 for work in
connection with the Sycamore Valley Road and I -680 southbound on -ramp improvement,
Contract No. C -487, in the form as lodged with the City Clerk, together with such changes
as may hereafter be determined necessary, provided such changes do not materially
increase the obligations to the Town hereunder, and to receive and approve all bonds in
connection therewith, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to attest same and affix thereto
the official seal of the Town; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall within five (5) days of the adoption of this resolution,
transmit an Extract of Public Works contract award to the Department of Industrial
Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards, P.O. Box 603, San Francisco, CA 94101.
(Note: Should a finding of any discrepancy regarding this ratio of apprentices to
journeymen be made, the Town shall notify the Division of Apprenticeship Standards of
such findings.); and, be it further
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on November 3, 2010, by
the following vote:
