HomeMy WebLinkAbout057-2010 RESOLUTION NO. 57-2010 AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR THE DANVILLE VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING RENOVATION, PROJECT NOS. A-SID AND C-546 WHEREAS, the Town is undertaking renovation of the historic Danville Veterans Memorial Building located at 400 Hartz Avenue; and WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council has appropriated funding for the project costs in the adopted 2009/2010 Capital Improvement Program, although additional appropriations are necessary to fully fund the project; and WHEREAS, bids were solicited from building contractors for the project; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk of this Town did, in open session on the 26th day of May, 2010, publicly open and read aloud the sealed bids received as required by law; and WHEREAS, of the eleven bids received, the lowest responsive bid was submitted by Zovich & Sons Inc. of Hayward, California, and the City Engineer recommends awarding a construction contract for the project to said contractor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Town Council appropriate $1,897,488 in EBRPD Measure WW funds and $590,150 in VMDCSRV funds for Project A-510, as well as transfer $77,720 in Civic Facilities funds from Project A-510 to Project C-546, with said appropriations and transfer occurring in fiscal year 2009/10 to fully fund the project; and, be it further RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town award a construction contract for the Danville Veterans Memorial Building Renovation, Project Nos. A-510 and C-546, to Zovich & Sons Inc.; and, be it further RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town Manager be and hereby is authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town, a written contract with Zovich & Sons Inc. for $5,325,000 and authorize use of a 10% contingency not-to-exceed $532,500, for a total construction budget of $5,857,500, for work in connection therewith, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to attest same and affix thereto the official seal of the Town; and, be it further RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall within five (5) days of the adoption of this resolution, transmit an Extract of Public Works contract award to the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards, and P.O. Box 603, San Francisco, CA 94101. (Note: Should a finding of any discrepancy regarding this ratio of apprentices to journeymen be made, the Town shall notify the Division of Apprenticeship Standards of such findings.)
