HomeMy WebLinkAbout041-2010 RESOLUTION NO. 41-2010 AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR HAZARDOUS BUILDING MATERIALS ABATEMENT AT THE VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING, PROJECT A-SID WHEREAS, the Town is undertaking renovation of the Veterans Memorial Building located at 400 Hartz Avenue, as part of Capital Improvement Project A-510; and WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council has appropriated funding for the project costs in the adopted 2009/2010 Capital Improvement Program; and WHEREAS, before the renovation work can commence, the Town must first remove hazardous materials from the building pursuant to a Hazardous Building Materials Survey prepared by Kleinfelder West, Inc.; and WHEREAS, bids were solicited from specially-licensed contractors for the removal and disposal of hazardous building materials; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk of this Town did, in open session on the 8th day of April, 2010, publicly open and read aloud the sealed bids received as required by law; and WHEREAS, of the ten bids received, the lowest responsive bid was submitted by Janus Corporation of Concord, California, and the City Engineer recommends awarding a construction contract for the project to said contractor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town award a construction contract for the Veterans Memorial Building Hazardous Building Materials Abatement, Project A-510, to Janus Corporation of Concord; and, be it further RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town Manager be and hereby is authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town, a written contract with Janus Corporation for $29,747 and authorize use of a 10% contingency not-to-exceed $2,975, for a total construction budget of $32,722, for work in connection therewith, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to attest same and affix thereto the official seal of the Town; and, be it further RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall within five (5) days of the adoption of this resolution, transmit an Extract of Public Works contract award to the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards, and P.O. Box 603, San Francisco, CA 94101. (Note: Should a finding of any discrepancy regarding this ratio of apprentices to journeymen be made, the Town shall notify the Division of Apprenticeship Standards of such findings.)
