RESOLUTION NO. 77-2009
APPROVING THE AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT ENERGY
EFFICIENCY AND CONSERVATION BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM FUNDING
APPROPRIATION OF $168,400, AND AUTHORIZING THE TOWN MANAGER TO
EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY
(PG&E) FOR LED STREET LIGHT INSTALLATION
WHEREAS, on May 18, 2009 the Town adopted the Town of Danville's Climate Action
Plan taking an active role in reducing green house gas emissions and supporting energy
efficiency; and
WHEREAS, the Town has applied for a grant from the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program for the
purpose of improving energy efficiency by replacing low efficiency street light fixtures
with high efficiency fixtures; and
WHEREAS, PG&E is offering an LED Street Light Replacement Service for replacement of
existing low efficiency high-pressure sodium street light fixtures with high efficiency light
emitting diode street light fixtures; and
WHEREAS, replacement of high pressure sodium street light fixtures with light emitting
diode street light fixtures will result in higher energy efficiency and reduced maintenance
costs to be reflected in lower monthly billing rates from PG&E; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Town Council hereby appropriates $168,400 from the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program
in FY 2009/10 for Capital Improvement Project A-418; and, be it further
RESOLVED, that the Town Manager be authorized to enter into an agreement with PG&E
for LED street light installation.
