HomeMy WebLinkAbout107-08 RESOLUTION NO. 107-2008 APPROVING A PLANNING PROCESS FOR THE DANVILLE VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING AND APPOINTING A STEERING COMMITTEE TO GUIDE THE PROCESS WHEREAS, Contra Costa County has transferred ownership of the Danville Veterans Memorial Building to the Town of Danville in order for the Town to redevelop the building into a facility which will meet the current and future needs of local veterans, and also serve as a center for senior programs, recreational activities, social events and community rentals; and WHEREAS, the Town Council, at a study session held on August 12,2008, discussed the goals of the Veterans Memorial Building planning and design process; and WHEREAS, the Town Council desires to appoint a 10-member Veterans Building Steering Committee comprised of two members each from the veterans' community, Town Council, Senior Issues Sub-committee of the Danville Parks and Leisure Services Commission, Heritage Resource Commission and Planning Commission/Design Review Board; and WHEREAS, the Steering Committee members will serve as an ad hoc committee responsible for gathering input from constituents whose interests they are appointed to represent, and providing appropriate input into the planning process for the building; and WHEREAS, the Steering Committee will sunset upon presenting its final recommendations regarding development of the Danville Veterans Memorial Building to the Town Council for consideration and action; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby approves the planning process for the Danville Veterans Memorial Building and appoints a Steering Committee to guide the process.
