RESOLUTION NO. 68--2008
APPROVING STRATEGIES TO ADDRESS THE EAST BAY MUNICIPAL UTILITY
DISTRICT'S 2008-2009 DROUGHT MANAGEMENT PROGRAM MANDATORY
WATER RATIONING GOALS
WHEREAS, the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) has identified the need to
immediately implement a Drought Management Program to safeguard its shrinking water
supply amidst a second consecutive dry year; and
WHEREAS, EBMUD is seeking a 15% reduction in water use District-wide and
implementing mandatory restrictions on use now to stretch the dwindling supply further;
and
WHEREAS, to achieve this 15% in savings overall, EBMUD is calling for customers to cut
back usage by various percentages based upon the EBMUD-designated category of use;
and
WHEREAS, the Town has utilized numerous Best Management Practices to effectively
manage the use of water resources since the early 1990s; and
WHEREAS, accomplishing the level of water use reduction now being mandated will
require significant changes to the methods of maintaining, managing and using the Town's
parks, roadsides and community facilities; now therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council that strategies to address the East Bay
Municipal Utility District's 2008-2009 Drought Management Program mandatory water
rationing goals be implemented.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on June 4, 2008, by the
following vote:
