RESOLUTION NO. 74-2007
AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE EAST BAY
REGIONAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (EBRCS) AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, communications are a critical element for emergency responders during
emergencies and daily operations, and directly affect the Town's ability to protect and
preserve the safety of its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, current emergency and day-to-day communications are occurring through a
radio network that utilizes a variety of assigned radio spectrum, making radio
interoperability problematic; and
WHEREAS, Contra Costa and Alameda Counties have been jointly working toward
developing an East Bay Regional Communication System that would provide
communications interoperability through a single, shared 800 MHZ system; and
WHEREAS, the East Bay Regional Communication System Authority (EBRCSA) will
improve and facilitate communications interoperability. within and among the member
agencies, with the ultimate goal of improving emergency response and protecting and
preserving tIle safety of Danville's citizenry; and
WHEREAS, theEBRCSA will provide the best possible communications system at the
lowest possible cost; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby authorizes the Town's participation in
the EBRCSA and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to execute, on
behalf of the Town, the Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement for the EBRCSA.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on July 3, 2007 by the
following vote;
AYES: Shimansky, Andersen, Arnerich, Doyle, Stepper
