RESOLUTION NO. 14-2007
APPROVING THE TOWN OF DANVILLE'S LOCAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN,
PURSUANT TO THE FEDERAL DISASTER MITIGATION ACT OF 2000
WHEREAS, the San Francisco Bay Area is subject to various earthquake-related hazards
such as ground shaking, liquefaction, landslides, fault surface rupture, and tsunamis; and
WHEREAS, the San Francisco Bay Area is subject to various weather-related hazards
including wildfires, floods, and landslides; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville acknowledges that disasters do not recognize city,
county, or special district boundaries; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville seeks to maintain and enhance a disaster-resistant Town
and region through reducing the potential loss of life, property damage, and
environmental degradation from natural disasters, while accelerating economic recovery
from those disasters; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville is committed to increasing the disaster resistance of the
infrastructure, health, housing, economy, government services, education, environment,
and land use systems in the Town, as well as in the San Francisco Bay Area as a whole; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires all cities, counties, and
special districts to have adopted a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan to receive disaster
mitigation funding from FEMA; and
WHEREAS, ABAG has approved and adopted its report, Taming Natural Disasters, as the
Multi-Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan for the San Francisco Bay Area; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED that the Town of Danville hereby adopts this Local Hazard Mitigation Plan,
which plan shall be incorporated into the ABAG report, Taming Natural Disasters, and the
Town of Danville General Plan Safety Element (Resources and Hazards - Chapter 5); and
be it further .
RESOLVED that the Town of Danville will continue to take and initiate further
appropriate actions as identified in this Local Hazard Mitigation Plan.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on March 6,2007 by the
following vote:
