HomeMy WebLinkAbout120-06 RESOLUTION NO. 120-2006 SUPPORTING PROPOSITION lA, PROPOSITION IB, AND PROPOSITION le, ON THE NOVEMBER 7, 2006 BALLOT WHEREAS, on May 5, 2006, the State Legislature passed a $37.3 billion package of bond measures to provide funding for housing, transportation, levee repairs, flood control projects, and educational facilities; and WHEREAS, the bond measures will be presented for voter approval on the November 7, 2006, statewide ballot; and WHEREAS, the three measures that directly benefit Danville are Proposition lA, Proposition 1B, and Proposition 1 C; and WHEREAS, Proposition lA, is a state constitutional amendment designed to "fix" Proposition 42, by permanently dedicating the sales tax revenue on gasoline to transportation improvement projects; and WHEREAS, Proposition 1B allocates $20 billion on various transportation projects throughout the state, $2 billion of which has been allocated for cities and counties for traffic congestion relief, traffic safety, transit, storm damage, maintenance, construction, and other projects to improve the local stt:eet and road system; and WHEREAS,. Proposition 1C provides $2.85 billion for housing projects, including affordable housing and loan assistance; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Town of Danville supports the passage of Proposition lA, 1B, and 1C, and encourages Danville voters to approve these propositions on November 7, 2006.
