RESOLUTION NO. 107-2006
APPROVING A PROCLAMATION SUPPORTING THE FUNDRAISING EFFORTS
OF THE VETERANS MEMORIAL BUILDING DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE OF
SAN RAMON VALLEY
WHEREAS, the Veterans Memorial Building Development Committee of San Ramon
Valley (the Committee) was formed to explore the possibility of a new Veterans' Memorial
Building in the San Ramon Valley; and
WHEREAS, the Committee concluded that the current Veterans' Memorial Building in
Danville suffers major deficiencies related to the age and condition of the existing building,
as well as the ability of the structure to accommodate a broad range of uses and activities;
and
WHEREAS, the Committee is proposing a new, larger building in another location for
current and future veterans in the Tri Valley area and envisions the new building to be a
center of veteran-related activities for the Tri Valley area; and
WHEREAS, project funding of $750,000 has previously been appropriated in the 2007/08
Capital Improvement Program, contingent upon the Committee providing the balance of
the project funding, and a timeframe, set by the Town Council, within which the funds
must be spent; and
WHEREAS, consistent with the Town's funding commitment, the Committee is now
requesting that the Town adopt a proclamation in support of the project to rally support for
ensuing fundraising efforts; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, that the Danville Town Council does hereby approve a proclamation
supporting the fundraising efforts of the Veterans Memorial Building Development
Committee of San Ramon Valley.
APPROVED by the Danville Town Council at a regular meeting on September 5, 2006, by
the following vote:
AYES: Stepper, Shimansky, Andersen, Arnerich, Doyle
