HomeMy WebLinkAbout144-05 RESOLUTION NO. 144-2005 AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AND APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL FUNDS FOR THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL MODIFICATION AT SYCAMORE VALLEY ROAD AND OLD ORCHARD DRIVE CONTRACT NO. C-434 WHEREAS, the Danville Town Council approved the call for bids for the traffic signal modification at Sycamore Valley Road and Old Orchard Drive, Contract No. C-434; and WHEREAS, this is a Capital Improvement Project with funds being appropriated by the Measure C Return to Source Funds; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk of this Town did, in open session on the 6th day of December, 2005, publicly open and read aloud the sealed bids received as required by law; and WHEREAS, additional funds in the amount of $68,631 are needed to award the contract to the lowest bidder; and WHEREAS, the low bidder is Richard Heaps Electric of Sacramento, CA and the City Engineer has recommended awarding a contract for the project to said firm; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council that the Town award the contract and appropriate additional funds for the traffic signal modification at Sycamore Valley Road and Old Orchard Drive, Contract No. C-434, to Richard Heaps Electric of Sacramento, CA; and, be it further RESOLVED, by the Danville Town Council, that the Town Manager be and hereby is authorized to execute, on behalf of the Town, a written contract with Richard Heaps Electric for $226,542 plus a 10% construction contingency of $22,654 for a total of $249,196 for work in connection with the signal modification at Sycamore Valley Road and Old Orchard Drive, Contract No. C-434, in the form as lodged with the City Clerk, together with such changes as may hereafter be determined necessary, provided such changes do not materially increase the obligations to the Town hereunder, and to receive and approve all bonds in connection therewith, and the City Clerk is hereby directed to attest same and affix thereto the official seal of the Town; and, be it further RESOLVED, that the City Clerk shall within five (5) days of the adoption of this resolution, transmit an Extract of Public Works contract award to the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Apprenticeship Standards, P.O. Box 603, San Francisco, CA 94101. (Note: Should a finding of any discrepancy regarding this ratio of apprentices to journeymen be made, the Town shall notify the Division of Apprenticeship Standards of such findings.)
